FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
NU2U Consignment Shop Uses the Web to Boost Business
Customers Can Track Their Consigned Products Via the Shop’s Web Site.
Forest Park, GA – July 18, 2007 – NU2U Consignment Shop opened in November of 2006 as a retailer selling previously owned women’s clothing and accessories, but in June of 2007 the owner of the store, Dee Buchanan decided to turn her into a consignment shop, but one that takes full advantage of customer service technology offered by the Web.
NU2UStore.com, the store’s web site, allows customers with who bring in clothing and other items to place on consignment the ability to monitor sales of their items. The feature has proven quite popular and, combined with in-store merchandising savvy, helped Ms. Buchanan increase business.
One of Ms. Buchanan’s clients, a fifteen year old girl named Precious, brought ten items into the store for consignment, and within a month had sold seven, and at a price she was very pleased with.
Another consignment client is Clarine White, manager of a local apartment complex, who is also a regular customer of the store as well as Ms. Buchanan’s biggest consignment client.
“Nu2U is not only a great place to put clothes and accessories on consignment,” said Ms. White, “it’s a great place to shop, as well. I’m there all the time! I love being able to check on my items to see what’s selling. Dee does a great job displaying everything, putting clothes on mannequins and making sure accessories are in full view.”
Nu2U sells women’s clothing, shoes, handbags, purses, and costume jewelry. Consignments are usually for 45 days. Keeping track of consigned items via the web site is a free service.
Nu2U also offers a fundraising consignment service for schools and nonprofits organizations. The store recently helped local baseball teams raise money by allowing parents to pool consigned items in one account. The money raised was used to buy uniforms.
“Once I changed my store format from straight buy-and-sell to consignment, business definitely picked up,” said Ms. Buchanan. “Giving my clients the ability to track their consigned items makes them more involved and more enthusiastic about putting more on consignment, which in turn attracts more business. It’s worked really well so far.”
